Cloud/ SaaS applications improve IT performance and lower your investments. But using such applications also exposes your corporate data, as these data are now only protected by passwords chosen by your users – most of the time not aligned with your security policy -, not by your firewalls. At the same time, having more third-party applications, users also have more logins and passwords to remember, so that they start writing them down, and probably also complaining about this.
So, corporate IT security and user experience are both jeopardized.
Integrating such applications in your Web SSO (Single Sign-On) does not solve these issues in a satisfactory manner. Indeed, either you setup identity federation between your SSO and these applications in order to secure them, but you will have at the same time to equip your mobile and remote users with strong authentication and VPN if you want these users to still be able to access the Cloud/SaaS applications. Or you only handle the user experience issue by having your SSO memorize logins and passwords, but your corporate data remains poorly protected.
Fortunately, most of the Cloud / SaaS applications do already support some form of identity federation or authentication delegation. Just activate this feature by defining In-Webo as Identity Provider or Secure Token Service. That application will then be part of the “Strong SaaS SSO” provided with the In-Webo Enterprise solution.
